Concealed Carry Privacy Bill to be heard in committee tomorrow

HB1623 The Concealed Carry Privacy bill is scheduled to be on the agenda of the Senate Committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs tomorrow.

The Arkansas Press Association is lobbying heavily against the bill. Executive Vice President Jason Wilkinson will be offering testimony on behalf of ARCCA. It should be exciting.

I'll be "twittering" the hearing so if you follow us on Twitter check it out around 10 am or so.

Updates on other bills:

HB 1237 Died in committee the second and final time today. See this blog post for the story. I still haven't heard back from Senator Wilkins yet.

HB 2184 The open carry bill was pulled for some amendment after some Representatives voiced some concerns over the, "carrying of machine guns?" They bill is scheduled for tomorrow as well.

HB1890 The castle doctrine bill was pulled by the author.

SB 768 The bill that would remove the ability of local units of government to restrict our Right to Keep and Bear Arms during a declared state of emergency, such as occurred following Hurricane Katrina is also on the agenda tomorrow. In an earlier email the bill's sponsor Senator Taylor  indicated  to me that he felt that he didn't have the votes. I have since tried to follow up with him on it and will let you know what he thinks. Please contact the members of this committee and urge them to pass this bill.

Update - Senator Taylor emails that he believes that he is 2 votes shy.
